Aaron Bros Picks for Fourth of July Activities

Published on July 1st, 2013 by

Summertime in Chicago is in full swing and with the Fourth of July happening in a few short days, Aaron Bros. Moving System, Inc would like to offer our picks of local events sure to make the holiday memorable.

Navy Pier Fireworks

Navy Pier is the place to see fireworks for any downtown Chicago resident. The show begins on the Fourth at 9 p.m. and is set to the background of patriot-themed music. For an  unobstructed view, consider treating yourself and loved ones to a dinner boat cruise departing from Navy Pier. If you don’t feel like braving the traffic and fellow firework enthusiast grab a spot on any beach along the lake for a distant (yet still breathtaking) view!

Chicago History Museum

Why not start the day off with free family fun at The Chicago History Museum’s 54th Annual Fourth of July event. This free event includes patriotic musical performances, a reading of the Declaration of Independence, and a children’s parade led by the World’s Tallest Uncle Sam. The family-fun begins at 10 a.m. at Uihlein Plaza in Old Town.

Millennium Park

July 4th live music at Millennium Park will see “ICE,” a contemporary classical music ensemble, and Nosaj Thing, an electronic musician beginning at 6;30 p.m. A great place to stop on the way to Navy Pier fireworks!

International Festival of Life

This festival on the South Side celebrates African and Caribbean life with music, dance, art, crafts, cuisine and culture of Africa and the Caribbean. The festival takes place at Washington Park and will begin at 10 a.m. on Thursday.
