With a multitude of moving companies in Chicago, Il, it can be difficult to find a company that you thoroughly trust. At Aaron Bros. Moving System, Inc., our team has over 50 years of experience moving the Chicagoland area. If you have a move on the horizon, it can be difficult to nail down an exact timeline that you should follow. We also know that emergency moves can occur, requiring professional moving help in a pinch. We recommend the following timeline to help your move go as smoothly as possible.
Contact Professional Movers
As soon as you are aware of your upcoming move, let our team know! This gives us enough time to prepare for your move!
Purge Unwanted Items
About a month before you move, it’s ideal to go through your belongings and get rid of unwanted items. Old pots and pans, clothes you never wear, or a couch that is beaten up can all be purged to help make the process easier. The less that you have to move, the easier the process will be! Moving is an ideal time to go through your belongings and decide whether or not they’re important enough to bring onto your next location.
Contact Your Utility Company
At least three weeks out before the move, it’s ideal to contact your utility company to let them know that you will no longer be residing at your current address. Think water, internet, cable, gas, electric, etc. If you will be using the same companies, you can let them know your new address and when to begin services under your name.
Start Packing Boxes
Roughly 2-3 weeks before the move, start packing boxes and label them by room. You’ll want to make sure that all of your important documents are in one place so you can easily find them if you need them.
Stop Grocery Shopping
About one week before the big move, stop grocery shopping so you don’t have excess food that will end up going bad. Only get the necessities to get you through the week.
Preparation is key when it comes to a successful move! We look forward to helping you during your upcoming move!
