Halfway With Our “Summer Youth Program!”

Published by Webmaster

Aaron Bros. Moving System, Inc. is halfway through with our South Shore Chamber of Commerce “Summer Youth Program” where all four locations are participating in mentoring young men and women from the ages of 19-24 years old.

The “Summer Youth Program” is for local area young adults looking for summer employment within the community. We have proudly hosted 3-5 employees at our main office and within our respective self-storage facilities. Each employee works 26 hours at their designated office and then attends one to two weekly classes (provided by the Chamber) that highlight such topics as work place etiquette, life skills, and future advancement.

As an experienced Chicago business (since 1969!) the program gives us the opportunity to teach such skills as basic office behavior and expectation, computer skills, and warehouse maintenance. Yet more importantly, the “Summer Youth Program” allows us the opportunity to get to know these young adults as individuals and to become another source of encouragement for the advancement in their personal skills and life. We have the chance to become part of their network and bring them into ours, either by creating job opportunities within our company or connecting them with individuals we may know who can utilize the unique skills each one of these youths have to offer.

At the halfway mark, it has been a great experience for Aaron Bros. to participate in the “Summer Youth Program” and we look forward to a continued relationship with South Shore Chamber of Commerce in the future. Stayed to tuned for the official reports of the program and our celebratory “last day!” pictures.
