How to Successfully Pack Your Kitchen

Published by Webmaster

As leases are soon coming to a close, we’re gearing up for another summer of successful Chicagoland moves! We take pride in being cheap movers in Chicago, providing quality yet affordable services that take the stress out of your moves. We wanted to focus on the kitchen, an area of your house or apartment full of fragile objects. Here are some tips on successfully packing your kitchen for a hassle-free move.

Purge Unnecessary Items

If you don’t use a kitchen item or if you have an extra set of silverware that is collecting dust in your storage closet, get rid of it! As a general rule of thumb, get rid of items you haven’t used in a year. Even consider donating non-perishable food items to food kitchens to make your load lighter. At Aaron Bros, we actually work with Move for Hunger and will pick up non-perishable food items on the day of the move and take them to the Chicago Food Depository. Getting rid of unused kitchen items will make your move easier.

Prepare an Essentials Box

Put together a box of kitchen items you’ll need during your last two days in your old space and the first two days in your new space. This will take some pressure off of waiting until the last minute to pack, and you won’t feel like you have to unpack everything right when you get there. Some items to consider for this essentials box include a coffee maker, some dishes, dish soap, some silverware and a sponge.

Pack Carefully

If you’re boxing things on your own, make sure to use newspaper in-between fragile items so they don’t break by rubbing against each other. Once boxes are tightly packed, secure them shut and label them so it’s easy to find what you need at your new place.

If you’re stressed about an upcoming move and need to hire cheap movers in Chicago, Aaron Bros will gladly lend a helping hand. With 45 years of experience in moving locally and long-distance, we want to make your next move the least stressful one yet. Call us today for a free moving estimate!
