When it comes to a move, your whole family has to be on board, including your pets. During the process of packing, your pets likely pick up on a change that is about to occur and may feel anxious as a result. Here is some advice from our moving company in Chicago.
Keep Your Pets Separated from the Chaos
The move itself will be hectic, so it’s important to keep your animal away from the chaos as much as possible. If you can, keep your dog at their daycare or kennel for the day so they aren’t exposed to all of the shuffling around. If you’re moving from a home, you can keep your dog on a different level than where the movers are. This way, they won’t see or experience what goes on.
Distract Them
Keeping your pet content can be a challenge, but especially when a move is happening. Head to the pet store to grab one of their favorite treats that will last them at least an hour or two. You’ll thank yourself when you are able to be productive!
Update Their Information
If your move is local, you may be able to get away with going to the same vet after the move is over. However, if you are moving to a different city or even a different state, work ahead by finding a new vet for your pet to visit once you’ve arrived. If your pet is microchipped, ensure that you update that information to reflect your new address and phone number.
