Lincoln Park Neighborhood Feature #1: Lincoln Park Conservatory & Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum

Lincoln Park is one of the vibrant neighborhoods we proudly relocate families to throughout the year. Lincoln Park is filled with interesting places to visit, wonderful restaurants to experience and amazing shops to explore.  The neighborhood is sprinkled with classic Chicago architecture, some notorious Chicago history, a park actually named Lincoln Park and of course, miles of beautiful lakeshore.  Two of our favorite places in the neighborhood: the Lincoln Park Conservatory and the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum.

The Lincoln Park Conservatory dates back to the late 1800s and continues to be a popular destination today for locals, tourists, avid gardeners and weddings!  The Conservatory houses thousands of plants ranging from exotic, tropical plants to the plants the city actually uses to populate Chicago’s parks.  Visitors can explore the four display houses: Palm House, Fern House, Orchid House and Show House which hosts annual flower shows.  The Conservatory is open year-round and is definitely worth a visit!  Admission is free.

Right across the street from the Lincoln Park Conservatory is the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum.  The museum, as its name suggest, educates visitors of all ages on nature from far and wide.  Some of its exhibits include the impressive Judy Istock Butterfly Haven which is home to over 75 species of butterflies for a total of 1000 butterflies.  There are also exhibits which highlight our native landscapes includes nature trails and a study on of the most famous former marshes – Chicago.

Whether you are visiting from out-of-town or are a permanent Lincoln Park resident, we suggest enjoying the view both these neighborhood attractions have to offer.

(You can take our word for it; we are as Chicago as any company can get and you can read more about our Chicago “street-cred” here.)
