“Spring Cleaning” Anyone?!

Published by Webmaster

With Chicago on the cusp of warm weather, the last thing anyone wants to do on a sunny day is clean. But here are some reasons to motivate you to put on your favorite Pandora Station and get moving!

Experts say a messy house leads to a messy life. Spring Cleaning a living space filled with unnecessary clutter diminishes your homes’ power to revitalize you after a long day. Replace the junk mail in your kitchen with a bowl of fresh fruit and the piles of old paperwork in your bedroom with colorful flowers. You’ll feel re-energized soon enough.

Fresh air will do you good! After being cooped up with your windows closed–especially in a high rise–it is refreshing to open up the windows and let in a cool breeze. This also helps eliminate stale odors from your own home and the funk that comes in through those shared vents (like from the neighbors who always seem to be cooking with garlic and onions…)

Dusting eliminates allergens like mold spores, dust mites, and mildew that can weaken your immune system. A deep-cleaning will instantly add relief to itchy eyes, runny noses, and asthma attacks.

Cleaning burns calories, over 100 calories per hour! You’re exercising without even trying, need I say more?!

Speaking of unwanted calories, rid your refrigerator of old food and your pantry of unwanted canned goods. Studies show we are more apt to eat healthy when our fridge is clean and organized. Remember to drop your nonperishables off at one of our locations to donate to “Move for Hunger,” or let us know of your intent to donate during your move.

If your closet and dresser are over-flowing with clothes, yet you still can’t find anything to wear in the morning, this is the time to donate to a clothing drive. You can find drop-off locations throughout the city and with those outdated fashions gone, it’s the perfect time to go shopping for a new wardrobe.

Give your mattress a flip! The “new” side will hold the shape of your body better and aid in a good night’s rest.

You may find something you thought you lost. Instead of spending unnecessary money to replace your Smart Phone charger or panicking because you can’t find that family heirloom, take the time to sort and organize all the small pieces in your household.

You may find stuff to sell! Money’s tight for everyone now-a-days and a perfect way to score extra cash is by selling unwanted items. Sort through old handbags, jewelry, electronics, and/or collectors card to pay homage to the old saying, “one man’s trash is another man’s treasure!”

Now that you’ve mastered your house and said farewell to winter, we’ll take the items you’re not ready to get rid of. Simply give us a call to inquire about unit rentals or reserve your storage space online.
