Bucktown/Wicker Park Neighborhood Feature #1: A Cultural Experience

The Bucktown & Wicker Park neighborhoods are filled with amazing restaurants and shopping options ranging from national chains to eclectic boutiques. Many Chicagoans travel to these neighborhoods to dine at yummy restaurants such as the Bongo Room, Big Star, Piece, Carriage House and Antique Taco to name a few.  But have you ever stopped in to check out the great array of art galleries and small theaters?

Wicker Park is home to Chopin Theatre, an art center involved in over 500 productions including theater, film, music, literary and social events each year.  The theater has hosted the likes of Nikki Giovanni, John Cusak, and Jeremy Piven to name a few.  With a busy roster of events, make sure to pop in and catch the artistry.

Located at the Six Corners intersection (Milwaukee, Damen and North), Collaboraction Theatre Company creates original theatrical experiences that push artistic boundaries in order to explore critical social issues with a diverse community of Chicagoans. Show topics range from exploring the crime rates and scenarios around Chicago to educating our youth: controversial and pressing topics transformed into art to ask poignant questions.

So, whether in Bucktown or Wicker Park for a day of shopping or dinner with friends, don’t miss out on the art galleries, theaters and music venues these bustling neighborhoods have to offer.
