Moving into a Smaller Space

Published by Derrick Spencer

While many moving companies in Chicago are utilized for moving into a bigger space, moving companies are also beneficial for moving into a smaller space as well. With more and more people opting to downsize, the adjustment period can be challenging. Here are some tips from our team on how to make the most of a downsize.

Focus on the Positives

Maybe downsizing was your choice and maybe that’s simply how things worked out for you. Regardless, it is important to approach the situation with a positive mindset. Rather than thinking about a decrease in square footage, instead focus on positives such as easier upkeep, a decrease in maintenance costs, and less pressure to host. There are many positives to downsizing, you just have to be aware of them.

Only Keep Necessities

Downsizing automatically means that you will have to sort through your items and determine what is necessary to keep and what you can do without. If you haven’t worn or used an item in the last year, it is likely that you can get rid of it. You should try to be in the “use it or lose it” mindset. If you need to get rid of pieces of furniture, try to sell them via an app or website to make a little bit of extra money.

Make New Habits

You will have to adjust your way of life in a smaller living space, but not necessarily in a bad way. It’s likely that you will become much more organized and be much more aware of the things that you need versus the things that you want.

If you need a reliable moving company in Chicago for your downsize, contact our team today!
