Pack Smart

Published by Webmaster

Moving into a new home? Aaron Bros. Moving System, Inc. can take the heavy lifting out of the equation (literally), but that doesn’t mean that packing isn’t still a pain. Luckily, we’ve learned a thing or two in nearly 50 years of moving Chicagoans, and now it’s time we pass that knowledge along to you! Below are our tips for making packing – and unpacking – a breeze!

Plan Ahead

Getting everything you need ready before you start is going to save you a ton of time on packing. Planning things out means you won’t have to interrupt yourself to go to the store and get something you forgot you needed. Have your boxes, your packing tape, a big fat marker, cleaning supplies, and a package of garbage bags ready to go before you lift a finger.

Declutter

Moving is a great opportunity to realize how much stuff we have that we don’t actually ever use. Make the most of packing up your home by making a separate pile for things you plan to either sell or donate. Not only will this help declutter your home—it will make unpacking a whole lot faster!

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle

Not only will recycling and reusing boxes for your move help save the environment—it will help save you money! Consider picking up boxes from places like local liquor stores or restaurants that have recycling bins full of them! Use what you already have at your house like suitcases, trash cans, and other containers to transport your belongings. The more creative you get, the more money you’ll save on materials!

Start Early

Make sure you start packing little by little early on. If you spread the process out, you won’t find yourself the night before the move up until sunrise scrambling to get things in place. It’s a whole lot less stressful. You can start packing as early as months before your move to help save a ton of time.

Set Aside What You Need

Make a special box full of the things you’ll need on moving day—like a change of clothes, your toiletries, snacks, and water! Get all the essentials together to survive the first 24 hours in your new home so you don’t have to go rummaging through endless boxes of your things every time you need something.

And for those of you who simply don’t have the time to pack, Aaron Bros. Moving System, Inc. is a full-service moving company, which means you can hire us to pack separately or in addition to our moving services! Give us a call to find out more today!
